Atheism: What you need to know!

What is Atheism?
Lets start with the word; The term atheism originates from the Greek word ἄθεος (atheos), meaning "without god(s)." Atheists basically believe in no god and in no Spiritual existence whatsoever. Some other religions (Buddhism etc) also come under the category atheos but they do believe in Spiritual existence which separates them from the Atheism. Atheism takes its from Metaphysical materialism; which believes only in Physical existence, nothing but the touchable things, Objects fit under the definition of Mass to be precise.
Now, the most interesting recent phenomenon is change of the way Atheists try to define their belief just to somehow get rid of burden of defending their opinion. How? Previously, Atheists used to express that: "We believe there's no god" but that's not how they express themselves now a days. Now they express by saying: "We have no belief of God at all." You see what they did here? They went from having an opinion to no opinion at all. When you say that you deny the existence, it clearly indicates you're being reasonable and you're asking for argument. That's not the case in the latter definition where they try to prove they have no knowledge about any god or spiritual existence whatsoever.

HISTORY:

The first credible document in favour of Atheism is traced back to 1674 written by a German religion critic Matthias Knutzen which was followed by his two other writings.
Atheism was brought into the discussion of a common man, in streets and institutes in 19th century mainly by the French Revolution. The credit of which goes to Baron d'Holbach, a prominent French atheist of his time.
Atheism in the 20th century, particularly in the form of practical social atheism, advanced in many societies. Atheistic thought found recognition in a wide variety of other, broader philosophies. This century also provided concept of atheism recognition in worldwide Politics. Major events included: a) Russian Revolution of 1917 leading to the Ban on religious instruction in the state. b) Rise of atheist leaders and concepts after the Departure of British from Sub continent in 1947. c) In the second half of the 20th century many states went aggressive against religions due to many global theological movements.
New Atheism (2004-05 Onward) is the name given to a movement among some early-21st-century atheist writers who have advocated the view that "religion should not simply be tolerated but should be countered, criticized, and exposed by rational argument wherever its influence arises. The rise creators of this New Atheism and the concept itself was triggered by the all famous 9/11 terrorist attacks thought to be result of religious motivation.

VIEWS ABOUT ATHEISM:

Sam Harris (Pioneer of New Atheism) Says:
"In fact, "atheism" is a term that should not even exist. No one ever needs to identify himself as a "non-astrologer" or a "non-alchemist.".....Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified religious beliefs."

C.S. Lewis (Biggest believer of Spirituality of 20th century) Said:
"Atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning..."

Francis Thompson:
"An atheist is a man who believes himself an accident."

A survey held in 2010 showed that Atheists on average are more knowledgeable about religion that the actual followers of major faiths.

Eid or No Eid

Let me start with a very simple question, What is Eid-Ul-Fitr ? We all know what it is, Right ? Isn't it a Joyous Celebration related to one's religion and faith, Muslims to be precise. In my opinion Faith and Religion is a very personal matter of Person and must not be questioned in any condition.

Our country is like an oil tank, you just have to lit a fire, then Just stay back and watch what happens. This is our biggest negative as a Nation and our enemies exploit it by promoting Sectarianism on such sacred occassions. If one part or lets say a Group of our society wants to celebrate their Religious Happiness one day earlier than the state then we must not have any problem with this. I mean why should we care? They're celebrating it B'coz they have interpreted their religion this way. If they want to skip a fast or two then we must not make it a National issue. This is purely Religious matter and everyone is responsible for his/her deeds and will be held responsible for them on the day of Judgment. The only thing we should do is create awareness and spread the knowledge and shall pray for them. Taking discussions to the next serious level and Heating things up will be of no use. We as a Nation are already divided in too many groups. Divisions on the basis of Colour, Sect, Language, Region, Province, Caste, Creed and thousands many. Aren't we Muslims and Pakistani first and we have freedom of speech and actions.

My Request to a sane would be, Just avoid creating unnecessary Issues. There is no reason to fight a battle with them on this issue.

Stay Blessed everyone and please accept my Eid Greetings whenever you decide to Celebrate..:)

Basic Purpose of Ramadan

It has been a day or two since Ramadan has started. Lots of circles have started discussions on some really irrelevant issues, one being the word 'Ramadan or Ramazan'. My interest right now is rather a more complicated one,That's The Basic purpose of Ramazan and The true Essence of Fasting.

Why we keep ourselves away from food, water and all kind of entertainment? Whats the logic behind this? Let me advice my reader one thing first. Never apply your logic in religion, they don't work here.

Coming back to the point, we grew up in an Islamic society under the shadow of our Muslim Parents. They told us about this 30 days long fasting marathon, Being a religious obligation for everyone. So we started fasting as per their directions. Admit it that most of us never bothered ourselves to look up in the Holy Books and find out why are we keeping ourselves away from Edibles during these specific hours. In Short the Ultimate purpose of this holy month Ramadan.

We are humans and we always try to find out the causes and reasons using our senses and try to be as logical as we can. So we apply our logic and the limited knowledge to find out essence of Ramadan. What we do wrong here is that we take it as a physical exercise because that is what we see, our body fighting against thirst and hunger all day long. We eat lots of food in Sehri and then wait till Maghrib and once again eat as much as we can taking our fast as a food festivity. After that We think that we have completed what is demanded by ALLAH from us in this Holy Month of Ramadan.

We believe that this 'not eating and not drinking' is the ultimate destination of our Fasting in Ramadan. If you are also taking it like this then you're doing it wrong. The ultimate objectives and purpose of ramadan is purely spiritual and they revolve around the connections between a person and his ALLAH. This Not eating and Not drinking are just Catalysts/Milestones, they compel us to reach our destination and develop an exemplary deep connection with our ALLAH Almighty.

In the Holy Ramadan we are suppose to offer our prayers with more spirit and regularity. We are suppose to practice all the rights of our Parents, Siblings, Relatives and Neighbours, as laid down in the Holy Quran. Holy Ramadan demands us to be more careful about our communications
with people around us, about our deeds and actions that effect others. These are general preaching of Islam but in Holy month of Ramadan Our Creator demands us to be more conscious about them.Things that are generally Permitted become forbidden in Ramadan during fasting. Eating and Drinking which are Permitted become forbidden acts in Ramadan in fasting hours.

We must take ramadan as a spiritual uplifting and become more closer to our Allah almighty, which is, in fact the true essence of Ramadan. Our Fasting does give us the hope to stay optimistic about our fate. It doesn't necessarily ensure us Jannah in the next world. Following Ramadan with true spirit, which is more than just to stay hungry and thirsty, ensures us a higher level than others on the day of judgment. We must assess ourselves at the end of the Ramadan that was this the month that spiritually uplifted us and are we the men of taqwaa right now ? Do we have a more stronger and deep connection with my ALLAH Almighty ?

If the Answer is YES then we have successfully fulfilled the basic purpose of the month of Ramadan.
Otherwise : Hadith e Nabvi Says

“Whoever does not give up lying and evil actions, then Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink” [Saheeh al-Bukhari]
